History of the movie theater Spatak

The cinema was built in 1913 on the private land of the family Ter-Panosov together with Asvadur Chahmahov. The movie theater got it's first name Ampir because of the architectural style with luxurious interiors enriched with moldings, columns and the appearance of street facade.

After the revolution in 1917 the cinema was nationalized and renamed "Spartak".

During the World War II main parts of the building was heavily damaged by falling shells.

The reconstructed movie theater was opened only in 1955. Then there were the heyday of the cinema, and then its decline.

At the end of XX century the movie theater languished: it was crouded by many small offices and the building was obsolescence mentally and physically.

A new page in the history of cinema is associated with the third reconstruction, which was carried out in 2002.

In 2006, the movie theatre Spartak was voted  the best movie theater in Russia by "Independent film distribution organizations".
