Voronezh has a humid continental climate.  Winters are long but summers are hot and pleasant. The weather in Voronezh is very changeable — if the sun shines in the morning it does not mean that in an hour or two it will be raining heavily. A very hot weather may suddenly change next day into a cold snap with long standing rains. 

Thunderstorms together and heavy showers happen in Voronezh nearly 20-40 times per year in the period from May to October. 

Winds blow in all directions, though north-west winds prevail in warm seasons and south-west — in cold.  Usually, a rushing mighty wind up to 15 meters per second blows less than two weeks in a year. Destructive winds are not peculiar to this region. The average wind speed  is low and very comfortable for inhabitants. 

The level of atmospheric pressure does not change dramatically in the period from October till February and amounts to 748 mm, in summer months — to 746 mm. Sometimes because of deep cyclones its fluctuation amplitude may be equal to 71 mm (in winter).

Relative humidity significally varies during the year. So in May-June it is 41-47 %, and in winter it's 80-85%. In an average year in Voronezh there are 116 wet days. Most of these days are winter months, during the summer there are about 8 wet days. The amount of dry days is around 33 per year.

Summer. The average temperature for this season is 22 degrees. The warmest month is July. The maximum temperature can be 30-35 degrees. Most of the time the weather is warm and even hot but few times during the Summer can come chilly weeks and ruin the mood. The quantity of rains and thunderstorms is different in different years, for example it can be a month without the rain or it can be almost the whole month raining. The most «thunderstormy» time is considered to be July and the beginning of August. But likely the thunderstorms can change very quickly to sunny days.

Autumn. Is it chilly, rainy and joyless? Not exactly like most of us think. Early autumn is an absolutely fantastic season in Voronezh. Sunny days are yet not rare and just amazingly beautiful. Trees are wearing bright colours. It is not already hot, but not too cold for a long walk. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Voronezh during this time. The average temperature for September is 15 degrees, October - 9 degrees and November - 2 degrees.  The weather can be very unpredictible during all the autumn. Rains are more likely than the sun. In the second part of October the weather usually becomes cold and wet. In the end of October it can be even snow. November is already a cold month, so if you visit the city during this time don't forget to take the warm clothes.

Winter.  Russian winter is one of country's symbols, but is it really that snowy and frosty? This is a very beautiful season for those who are not affraid of the cold. Fortunately Voronezh winter is not that cold like Siberian one.The average temperature is about -6 degrees and it doesn't change a lot during all the winter.  The minimum temperature can be -20 or -25 degrees and it lasts not more than 1 or 2 weeks. Usually there are a lot of snow that covers streets and trees in the city and makes everything very beautiful. There are a lot of things to do during this season. You can skate from the hill, go for ice-skating or skiing, play snowballs and even build the snow castle. Don't forget about the biggest Russian celebration - The New Year! If you have never seen the real winter, come to Voronezh and you will really enjoy all it's beauty and magic moments.

Spring. Though March is a spring month it doesn't mean that the weather will check the calendar. Snow and cold weather are common during this period. But as we said before the weather can be very different in different years and March can  please us with sunny and warm days. If you go to Voronezh in the beginning of Spring be prepared for melting snow. Big puddles and Icicles hanging from buildings - an inherent part of this wonderful time of year. Rubber shoes will become your best friends for few weeks. The average temperature for March is 2 degrees. In April it becomes warmer and snow usually is gone by this time. In the beginning of April people meet the Spring with very nice tradition. They go to the forest to pick first flowers - snowdrops. The temperature in April varies from 9 till 15 degrees. May is a very enjoyable month. The average temperature is about 15 degrees and the maximum can be even 20 or 25 degrees. During this time trees become green, and the city becomes full of flowers. You will definitely enjoy being in Voronezh during this time of the year!
