Monument to Peter the Great

This monument is located on Petrovsky Square in the center of the city.

The monument was opened in August 30, 1860. It was the first monument in Voronezh.

In 1942, during the occupation of the right bank of Voronezh, the statue of Peter was removed and taken away by the Germans to the facility.
In January 10, 1956 a new monument has been set on the same pedestal. It was designed by Moscow sculptor Gavrilov by following the previous composition.

In 2005, the Petrovsky Square was restored and behind the monument was built shopping and entertainment center "Petrovsky Passage". At the moment, this Square is one of the main venues in the city.
